Which Facelift Is Right For Me?

If you’ve been thinking about a facelift, it’s important to know all of your options. While some people may be looking for a regular facelift, a mid-facelift might actually address the concerns you’ve most worried about. For others, you may actually be more interested in a brow lift. Let’s take a look at the main differences between these procedures to help you determine which may be best for you.

What are the differences between these techniques?

To start, it’s important to know what the terms “upper face,” “midface”, and “lower face” mean here. Usually, the “upper face” refers to everything above your eyes (specifically your brow line and forehead). The term “midface” is the area from the corners of your eyes to the corners of your mouth. This includes your nose, cheeks, and area above your upper lip. Lastly, the “lower face” includes everything below the corners of your mouth. That includes your nasolabial folds (laugh lines) and jawline. Many times this area will also include under your chin and neck too.

It’s also important to know what facelift means in general. Most patients assume that a typical facelift treats all three regions of your face. However, a regular facelift usually focuses on the lower two-thirds of the face or everything below the tops of your ears. An upper facelift (or brow lift), is a different procedure altogether, though it can be performed at the same time if that is something that you’re interested in.

So, which facelift is right for you?
