Let’s Talk CO2

If you took chemistry in high school or college, you likely still remember an element or two from the periodic table. And although you may have spent your afternoons using flashcards to remember these elements, you may not have thought that this knowledge would come in handy one day.
Here at our office, Dr. Kristin Tarbet likes to use CO2— specifically CO2 laser resurfacing— to help deliver patients with smoother, healthier, and more youthful looking skin.
Similar to other laser resurfacing treatments, the goal of CO2 laser resurfacing is to vaporize skin cells that have been damaged, and encourage the production of new, healthy cells in their place. As a safe and effective treatment, CO2 laser resurfacing targets your skin cells from the inside out which helps to give you longer lasting results. Once your skin cells have been directly targeted, it will speed up your skin’s natural growth of collagen which helps aid in a variety of different ways including most of our patients biggest concerns: fine lines and wrinkles.
One of the biggest concerns that many of our patients have when considering a treatment like CO2 laser resurfacing is whether or not it works. Although results vary from patient to patient, it is a tried and true approach which helps patients obtain smoother skin, decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduce acne scars and sun spots, and increase your overall production of collagen.
As you age, the collagen in your skin starts to break down which contributes to a loss of elasticity in the skin. Additionally, frequent exposure to harmful environmental elements like UV exposure and pollution can also contribute to premature aging and other skin disorders. With a variety of unique treatments, like CO2 laser resurfacing, Dr. Kristin Tarbet can help you get back your complexion.
