When’s The Best Time to Start Botox?

The popularity of Botox in the United States in the past half-decade has exploded. With a 40.6% increase in procedures according to the latest figures from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). So, if you’ve been looking into it, you’re not alone. But it might be hard to know when to start. Let’s look at the benefits of starting younger or waiting until you’re older.

Age Might Not Matter As Much As You Think

Surprisingly, there isn’t a magical age that people agree on to start getting Botox. While some people swear by starting in their late 20s or early 30s, there’s no shame in waiting until later either. No matter what age you start, Botox will work the same way. Botox temporarily weakens the muscles that cause dynamic lines which then eventually turn into static lines or wrinkles.

The benefit of starting Botox earlier is that then these lines won’t become as deep. However, even if you’re in your 50s or 60s you can still make an impact on your current lines (and future) lines with Botox, but you won’t see the instant improvement that those who started earlier may see.

Try Botox And Other Fillers

If you did wait to start Botox or you just want a more powerful or significant change, we’d recommend pairing other fillers with Botox. Couple it with a hyaluronic acid filler to help plump up deeper creases or lines. You could also try laser resurfacing to make lines shallower. These treatments also help to stimulate your skin’s production of collagen, the natural substance that helps to plump and firm your skin. This would help you be able to cut down on return appointments and maintenance in the long run while still making your skin look youthful.

It’s Your Decision

No matter what, it’s up to you! If you want to start Botox earlier in life as a preventative aging measure, that’s great. If you want to take a more natural approach and see what happens as you age, that works too but just remember you might have a longer process to get the results you’re looking for.

Dear Patients and valued Clients:

In preparation of your upcoming appointments, we have added additional safety measures to ensure your safety and well-being until further notice:

  • All visitors and patients are required to wear a face covering to their appointment or entering the clinic. You will remove your mask only when having your examination or treatment.
  • All patients will call the office when they arrive for their appointment so that a medical staff member will escort you to a private sanitized room.
  • All employees, visitors and patients are screened daily with health questions and temperature scans by our medical team.
  • Any Brilliant Distinction points should be redeemed prior to your appointment. After all transactions, the credit card terminal will be disinfected.
  • Hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap is available in each examination room, receptionist station, waiting room and restroom.
  • We will be cleaning exam chairs after each patient, all surfaces, ophthalmology lamps, and computer key boards after every patient.
  • If you do not feel well, we will be rescheduling any and all patients who don’t feel their best and/or suspect possible exposure. Please know this is for the safety of other patients and staff.
  • The office will continue to follow its regular disinfecting protocols for the front desk counter, waiting room counters, restrooms and door handles.
  • Our large facility and multiple patient rooms should accommodate social spacing to minimize unnecessary contact.

We will be scheduling patients far enough apart to provide an atmosphere where you will feel that your clinic provider is just there for you. We will be doing our best to practice social distancing. We appreciate your patience and understanding so that we can create a positive environment where you can come to your appointment and feel comfortable.

Warm regards, Dr. Kristin Tarbet & Team
