Radiesse in Bellevue

Radiesse, formerly known as Radiance, is an FDA-approved long-lasting injectable filler material, like Botox, designed to fill in wrinkles or depressions in the skin. It is a gel-like material, specifically calcium hydroxylapatite, which does not cause allergic reactions like many of the old fillers. Radiesse is most commonly used to treat:

  • Naso-labial folds-the lines running from you nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Peri-oral lines-lines around the mouth
  • Depressed scars
  • Oral commissures

During the procedure, the doctor may first apply a small amount of topical or local anesthetic to minimize discomfort. Then a tiny needle is placed into the wrinkle, scar or other area of treatment, and Radiesse is injected, filling the depression.

The procedure itself is simple and takes place in an office setting. Treatments take about 15 minutes, results are immediate, and your new look should last 12-18 months as Radiesse is not reabsorbed rapidly by the body like other more temporary treatments. Some patients receive great results after their first injection, and others need repeat injections more often depending on the rate of absorption of the gel carrier.

Patients may experience swelling in the treatment area for a few days, but patients overwhelmingly agree it is worth the great looking results!
